Photanol’s technology has the benefit of directly using carbon dioxide but also displaces fossil fuels and other feedstocks from (bio)chemical production. It is leaving oil and gas in the ground and food in the kitchen. Photanol’s technology can produce chemicals with zero to negative carbon emissions and market rates. Its inputs are sunlight, water, carbon dioxide and micronutrients with no need for sugars. One of its first compounds to market from its platform is biodegradable bioplastic PLA. In the future, yogurt cups will be made from carbon dioxide.
