Elizabeth Rossiello founded BitPesa in October 2013 in Nairobi Kenya, after working for five years in sub-Saharan Africa as a Microfinance Rating Analyst. As the Deputy Director for the region's largest microfinance rating agency, Planet Rating, Elizabeth worked with microfinance institutions and SME-focused banks in 12 African countries. She trained regulators on best practice and analyzed institutions for investors entering the region's markets. Prior to her work in African financial services, Elizabeth started her career as in Investment Banking at Credit Suisse in NY, London and Zurich. She holds a Masters in Finance from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. As a founding member of the WEF Future Council on Blockchain, a founding member of the Global Blockchain Business Council, and an active advocate for blockchain technology in emerging markets, Elizabeth is one of the leading voices on how to support financial innovation, especially in the foreign exchange and payments sector, across frontier markets.
