1976, graduate, Fourah Bay College, the oldest university in West Africa. Insurance executive by profession. Spent over 24 years working in the private insurance industry. 1988-2002, Managing Director, Reliance Insurance Trust Corporation (Ritcorp), one of the largest insurance companies in Sierra Leone. 2002, entered politics. 2002, elected as leader of the All People's Congress (APC), then Sierra Leone's main opposition party. 2002-07, represented home District of Bombali at the Parliament of Sierra Leone. 2005, elected minority leader of Parliament; 2007, elected President, re-elected in 2012. Through the Agenda for Prosperity, addresses issues including youth unemployment, better management of natural resources for the good of all citizens of Sierra Leone, and the expansion and sustainability of the Free Health Care and Scaling-Up Nutrition initiatives.
