He developed "Ho-Me-I-ku" (praise and raise), an education method originated in Japan, which has been spread to more than a million people in 20 countries around the world.

Leaving a major consulting company, he became a washer-up at a restaurant and worked his way up to a manager. “Ho-Me-I-ku” has been developed by combining his successful employee education there, brain science, and phycology.

He has introduced this method to more than 500 companies and educational institutions, including early childhood education institutions. He also supports entrepreneurs. This method has also been used not only in Japan, but also in the U.S., China, India, Singapore, Thailand, and other countries.

He is an author of 30 books. His Ho-M-I-Ku Online Salon is themed around improving any relationships. His media appearance includes TV Asahi “Houdou Station”, NHK “Ohayou Nippon”, Nippon TV “Gozen Reiji no Mori”. He also hosts a radio show “Hara Kunio no Ho-Me-I-Ku radio”. He is the only Asian to speak at TEDx 4 times.

His activities further ranges from participating in the World Education Summit to establishing his own foundation and donating to children's homes in Cambodia, India, and Miyazaki and Akita in Japan. With the advent of AI, he believes that building AI systems based on Ho-Me-I-Ku is essential. His hobbies are triathlon and playing piano. His motto is "Where there is a will, there is a way.”
