BSc in Physics, Dalhousie University; PhD in Condensed Matter Sciences, McMaster University. Director of Los Alamos National Laboratory. Previously with Battelle as Senior Vice-President for Global Laboratory Operations, and at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) from 1998-2017 serving most recently as Laboratory Director, previously served as Director of the Spallation Neutron Source, Professor of Physics at the University of Toronto, Senior Scientist at Riso National Lab, and Postdoctoral Fellow at AT&T Bell Labs. Interests include Advanced Materials, Large Scale Scientific Facilities, High Performance Computing and Data Analytics, Advanced Manufacturing, Nuclear Non-proliferation, Energy Policy, and the implications of these topics on Global Security. Fellow: AAAS, APS and NSSA.
