An Early Warning System Could Save Countries From Climate Disasters

While natural disasters have increased five-fold, half of all countries do not have an early warning system in place. The UN is proposing an early warning system for the entire world - to alert communities to extreme weather events so countries can protect themselves. The plan includes monitoring and detection, rapid communications, and disaster preparedness. UN chief António Guterres announced the plan for the early warning system at COP27.
