The EDISON Alliance has achieved its initial goal of empowering 1 billion lives ahead of schedule, but the mission continues. Despite the progress made, the challenge remains significant. As Michael Miebach pointed out, 2.6 billion people are still not connected to the internet, which is roughly one in every three people globally. Achim Steiner emphasized that 95% of those unconnected reside in the Global South, highlighting the vast regional disparities in digital access.

While empowering 1 billion lives digitally is a significant achievement, as Klaus Schwab pointed out, the work is far from over. Hans Vestberg emphasized that the mission will not end until every person is connected and has an equal opportunity, regardless of their background.
