10 million embrace mobile banking with 'Asaan Mobile Account' in Pakistan

So far, 10 million people in Pakistan have opened new accounts through the Asaan Mobile Account (AMA) Scheme. It’s a multi-stakeholder collaboration involving mobile financial services platform VRG, which is part of the EDISON Alliance, a platform created to boost global connectivity and digital inclusion.

The Asaan Mobile Account (AMA) Scheme has revolutionized banking access in Pakistan, empowering over 10 million individuals to open accounts through their mobile phones. This multi-stakeholder initiative, backed by the EDISON Alliance and mobile financial services platform VRG, is bridging the digital divide and promoting financial inclusion.

Asaan Mobile Account: fostering financial inclusion in Pakistan

People can simply dial *2262# from any basic mobile or smartphone and answer a simple questionnaire. They don’t even need to be connected to the internet.
