This new space scanner will map the world’s remote tropical forests in 3D

The world’s forests are a vital carbon sink but deforestation and degradation are eroding their storage capacity. The 1.25-tonne Biomass probe was built by Airbus and will orbit 666 km above the planet for several years, measuring and tracking changes in forests across Asia, Africa and South America.
