The Dynamic Duo of Social Entrepreneurs and Tech Pioneers was transformed into a Dynamic Trio at a Davos session with the inclusion of Global Shapers – an accomplished community of young people in their 20s.

During this workshop, we delved into the phenomenon of failure, and how we can learn through it by seeing ‘failure as practice for success.’ The stigma of failure is often rooted in a culture of risk aversion, which then discourages us from trying new things. John Kao, facilitator of the session, illustrated the concept beautifully through jazz improvisation on a piano in the room. The point being: when you play notes exactly as you see them on the sheet music, you can be successful in technique. In jazz, however, things are much more interesting because there is an element of risk when you improvise. You risk playing sounds of dissonance though, ultimately, the ‘mish-mash’ of seemingly mistaken notes are  woven into one beautiful, coherent melody.

Having also engaged in a time of networking and fruitful exchange, the dynamic trio of Social Entrepreneurs, Tech Pioneers, and Global Shapers finished the session on a high note.
