Member and Co-Chair (2020-22), World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Geopolitics; Member Board of Overseers, Johns Hopkins Stavros Niarchos Foundation Agora Institute. Chair of the Experts Group for the 2014 NATO Summit; Chair of the British Academy’s Steering Committee of Languages for Security Project. Author of publications, including: Global Britain in a Divided World (2022); Britain, the EU and the Sovereignty Myth (2016); and America and a Changed World: A Question of Leadership (2010). Commentary and analysis have appeared in Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Financial Times, Washington Post, among others. Regular commentator on Bloomberg “Surveillance”, BBC News, and CNN International. Panellist at conferences on geopolitics, Europe and transatlantic relations. Has testified to British parliamentary Committees and US Congressional Committees. Appointed Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG) in 2022.
