Beximco Group, a private sector group in Bangladesh, encompasses one of South Asia's largest vertically integrated textile and garment companies. Beximco Pharmaceuticals is present in 55 countries. Under the provisions of a World Trade Organization agreement, Beximco was the first company globally to formulate and sell a generic version of the COVID-19 therapeutic Remdesivir, a critical step in helping alleviate the medical effects of the virus on the populations of poor countries. It has joined with the Government of Bangladesh and the Serum Institute of India to deliver 30 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca.
