These robot dogs are helping to manage forests in the UK

These robots are being used to build detailed maps of forests, with the aim of improving management and conservation.  They have been developed as part of the DigiForest project, which involves Oxford Robotics Institute and partners across Europe. Researchers are also using drones, backpack-mounted laser scanners, and a mapping and analysis tool to monitor forests 7 times faster than traditional methods. Here’s how it works.
