Urban wetlands perform critical jobs, from safeguarding against floods to filtering water, sequestering carbon, and enhancing biodiversity. But development and pollution can place wetlands under pressure. The Wetland Accreditation Scheme was created in 2015 to encourage cities to commit to protecting their wetlands through policy changes and conservation efforts.
