Adrian Monck

Monck has had a diverse and award-winning career in both print and broadcast journalism. After editing the University of Oxford student newspaper Cherwell, Monck began his career as an international reporter at the US network CBS, before joining UK broadcaster ITN’s News at Ten in 1992. While there, he won awards for his reporting on, among other issues, the Bosnian War and Rwanda. In 1996, Monck launched – and became managing editor of – the news service for the UK’s youngest terrestrial channel, Five. Under his stewardship, Five News picked up several awards for the quality and style of its broadcasting. From 2005 to 2009, he led the journalism department at City University, London, where he was also a professor. While there, he was a member of the Forum’s first Global Agenda Council on Journalism, and served as president of the UK’s Media Society.
