Barbara Jackson

Vice President of Programs, TrickleUp

Barbara E. Jackson joined Trickle Up in 2017 as the Vice President, Programs for Trickle Up based in the global headquarters in New York City.

Barbara is responsible for overseeing Trickle Up's operations in the three program regions of West Africa, Asia and the Americas and the Refugee Affairs program based out of the United States providing technical assistance and support to organizations working in the refugee and internally displaced person contexts, including a long term partnership with AVSI in Uganda. She is also responsible for overseeing program quality and research, monitoring and evaluation and learning for the overall organization.

Prior to undertaking her role with Trickle Up, Barbara served as the Humanitarian Director for CARE International based in Geneva wherein she was responsible for coordinating and overseeing all of CARE's emergency preparedness, response and advocacy initiatives globally. Her long term career with CARE included roles as Country Director in Mozambique, Honduras, and Bolivia and assignments in various roles in Bangladesh, Guatemala, and Uganda. Barbara began her career as a physical anthropologist and spent several years working in research efforts on archaeological excavations in Mexico and Peru.

Barbara holds a Master's Degree in Anthropology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed her Doctoral course work in International Health Education at the University of Texas-Austin. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Peru for her doctoral thesis research and has worked in the field of international development and humanitarian response for over 30 years.
