Bergljot Bjørnson Barkbu

Deputy Resident Representative, IMF

Bergljot Bjørnson Barkbu is the IMF’s Deputy Resident Representative to the European Union. She joined the IMF in 2004 after receiving a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence. She has worked on the Italy and Ireland teams in the IMF’s European Department, and has also held positions in the Strategy and Policy Review Department, working on crisis cases and policy issues such as debt sustainability and IMF lending facilities.
