Darren Saunders

Laboratory Head, Garvan Institute

Dr Darren Saunders is a cancer biologist at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre, Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of NSW in Sydney. He studies the molecular biology and genetics of cancer, with the aim of developing new therapies and improving patient outcomes. Dr Saunders has a PhD from the University of Wollongong (2000) and undertook post-doctoral research at the University of British Columbia and BC Cancer Research Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Dr Saunders was awarded the NSW Life Scientist Research Award in 2010.
