David Aikman

Head of New Champions, World Economic Forum

Aikman is Head of New Champions and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. Since joining the Forum in 2003, he has also led its Partnership and Professional Industry Services teams. He is, he says, passionate about developing young leaders and a strong believer in the power of youth to change the world: “There is real hope,” he has written, “that this rising generation will be able to mend the widespread broken public trust in leadership, both governmental and corporate.” Before joining the Forum, Aikman spent seven years with the International Olympic Committee, leading the development of the $1.2 billion marketing plan for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He holds a BA in English and German literature from Dalhousie University in Canada, and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland. He also serves as a council member with United World Colleges.
