John Markus Lervik

Chief Executive Officer, Cognite

Dr. Lervik is the Founder and CEO of Cognite, a leading software company providing an industrial data platform that empowers companies in heavy-asset industries like Energy, Shipping, and Utilities to extract value from their wealth of existing data by transforming it into useful information.

Dr. Lervik co-founded Fast Search & Transfer (FAST) in 1997. The same year, he received the Esso prize for best overall PhD for his thesis at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Dr. Lervik served as CTO and then as CEO at FAST until Microsoft acquired the company in 2008. He then took the position of Vice President of Enterprise Search at Microsoft until 2009. In 2010, he founded Cxense ASA, a software company listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 2014.
