Music Director Laureate, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; Chief Conductor, Vienna Radio Symphony and the Ravinia Music Festival, Chicago, Illinois: Conductor of Honor, São Paulo Symphony; Director, Graduate Conducting Dept. at the Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University. Founder, Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship in 2002 to support and promote women conductors. Guest Conductor: Chicago Symphony; New York Philharmonic; Philadelphia Orchestra; Los Angeles Philharmonic; London Symphony; London Philharmonic; Orchestre de Paris; Munich Philharmonic. Discography: over 70 recordings, including: Brahms symphonic cycle with the London Philharmonic; Barber cycle with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra; Prokofiev cycle with the São Paulo Symphony, and Dvorak cycle with the Baltimore Symphony. First woman to conduct the BBC's "Last Night of the Proms" in 2013. Other awards include Gramophone's Artist of the Year; Brit Award's Female Artist of the Year; Honorary Doctorate, Yale University (2018), Johns Hopkins University (2017). Founder, OrchKids, an after school music program serving Baltimore's inner city children. Started in 2009 with 30 kids, Orchkids now serves over 2,000 young people.
