Rafal Rohozinski

Founder, The SecDev Group

I am the founder of the SecDev Group of Companies that includes SecDev Group and Zeropoint Security. We are a group of agile research and innovation firms helping clients understand digital-geopolitical risk and digital transformation. SecDev builds value through innovation in foresight, analytics and a relentless commitment to turn risk into opportunity. We are fluent in technology, expert in cyber security, global in scope and singularly results-oriented. We empower clients to make smart choices that deliver value in the the digital-urban age.

In my non-Secdev time I am an active scholar. I've lectured at US and European Universities and have conducted special seminars for institutions including the Center for Strategic Leadership, U.S. Army War College, Joint Special Operations University, and Canadian Forces College. I've been a Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, SSHRC, Ford Foundation and IDRC.

I serve on corporate boards including the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries, SecDev Foundation and the Canadian International Council. I was previously a board member of Psiphon inc. and the Estonian e-government Academy. Between 2008 and 2012, I was the senior advisor to the Citizen Lab, University of Toronto.

Back in the 2000’s I was the co-founder of the Information Warfare Monitor (IWM) and the OpenNet Initiative (ONI) and directed the Advanced Network Research Group, Cambridge Security Programme, University of Cambridge. I was also the co-author of the GhostNet report - which documented the first state-sponsored cyber-espionage network - and made a splash on the cover of the New York Times.
