Ryan Morhard

Director, Policy and Partnerships, Ginkgo Bioworks

Ryan Morhard is Director of Policy and Partnerships at Ginkgo Bioworks. Ginkgo is building a platform to enable customers to program cells as easily as we can program computers. The company's platform is enabling biotechnology applications across diverse markets, from food and agriculture to industrial chemicals to pharmaceuticals. Ginkgo has also actively supported a number of COVID-19 response efforts, including K-12 pooled testing, vaccine manufacturing optimization and therapeutics discovery.

Before joining Ginkgo Bioworks, Ryan led the World Economic Forum’s work on global health security and biological risks. Prior to that, Ryan served as Branch Chief for International Partnerships at HHS. In this role, Ryan led engagement in several multilateral, regional, and bilateral partnerships to support domestic and international response to Ebola, Zika, and other public health emergencies, as well as to strengthen collective preparedness. Before that, Ryan was a Legal Analyst and Associate at the Center for Health Security.

Ryan received his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis and studied Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh.
