Alcon was a subsidiary of Novartis until April 2019, when the company completed a shareholder-approved 100% spin-off of the Alcon eye care devices business. Following the spin-off, Alcon was incorporated in Fribourg, Switzerland, and moved its global headquarters to Geneva, Switzerland. Alcon's previous global divisional headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, remains a major operational, commercial and innovation hub for the company.
