China Investment Corporation (CIC)

China Investment Corporation (CIC) was founded in 2007 as China's largest sovereign wealth fund and a vehicle to diversify the country's foreign exchange holdings and seek maximum returns for its shareholders. At the end of 2021, its total assets were $1.35 trillion, with net assets of $1.25 trillion. The distribution of the offshore investment portfolio comprised 35.4%, 15.4%, 47.0% and 2.2% of public market equities, fixed income, alternative assets, cash products and others respectively. In US dollar terms, the net return on CIC's offshore investments in 2021 is 14.27%; the cumulative annualised net return over the past ten years is 8.73%.
