Ezaki Glico was founded by Riichi Ezaki in 1922. "Glico" is derived from shortening the word glycogen, which is a source of energy and good health. "Glico" is also the name of its first and original product – a nutritious caramel. The group has a variety of products, such as chocolates, biscuits, ice cream and dairy goods. It has affiliates in Asia and North America and joint ventures in France and Korea, and is expanding in Asian countries through its "pocky" brand.
