Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) is Brazil’s leading public institution for science, technology and innovation in health. Established in 1900 and linked to the Ministry of Health, it conducts biomedical research, develops vaccines, diagnostics and pharmaceuticals, and supports the national public health system (SUS). Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro with technical and scientific units across Brazil and abroad, including Mozambique, Fiocruz integrates research, education, and public health services. It plays a central role in advancing health equity, promoting innovation, and strengthening Latin America’s capacity for scientific and public health leadership.
