There are 168 million victims of child labour – and we're failing them
We're still not doing enough to eradicate child labour, says Nina Smith.
GoodWeave International works to end child labour and forced labour in supply chains, from the producer's hands to the consumer's. Starting with South Asia's handmade carpet industry and now launched in apparel, fashion jewellery, home textiles, bricks, and tea, GoodWeave implements four main interconnected programme areas: harness market forces; clean up supply chains; create educational opportunities; and improve conditions for all workers. The GoodWeave label certifies 12% of the global handmade rug market as free from child labour and forced labour; 150 brands license the use of the GoodWeave System.
