Indian Institute of Technology Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras is a residential institute located in the city of Chennai, previously known as Madras. It was set up in 1959 and is active in teaching, research and industrial consultancy with nearly 460 faculty, 4,500 students and 1,250 administrative and supporting staff. It has 15 academic departments and a few advanced research centres in various engineering and pure science disciplines, with nearly 100 laboratories.
