Ofwat

Ofwat is a non-ministerial government department established in 1989 when the water and sewerage industry in England and Wales was privatized. Ofwat is the economic regulator of the water industry in England and Wales. It protects the interests of consumers, wherever appropriate, by promoting competition; makes sure that the water companies properly carry out their functions; ensures that the water companies can finance their functions. It also, among others, promotes economy and efficiency and contributes to the achievement of sustainable development.
