South African Reserve Bank (SARB)

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is controlled by the South African Reserve Bank Act, with its shares privately owned and managed by a board of 14 directors, seven of whom, including the governor and three deputy governors, are appointed by the President of South Africa. The remaining directors are elected by the bank's shareholders. It regards the achievement and maintenance of financial stability as its primary goal in the South African economic system.
