Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF)

Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is Switzerland’s principal institution for the promotion of scientific research. Mandated by the federal government and established in 1952, it supports basic research across all academic disciplines, from the humanities and social sciences to medicine and engineering. Each year, the SNSF funds more than 3,400 projects involving around 14,000 researchers, fostering excellence, innovation and international collaboration. Through its programmes and partnerships, it strengthens Switzerland’s position as a leading centre for high-quality, curiosity-driven research.
