The Africa Sustainable Commodities Initiative (ASCI)

The Africa Sustainable Commodities Initiative (ASCI) is an established, inclusive, African-owned and -led multistakeholder platform committed to the responsible production of agricultural commodities. ASCI represents 10 countries in West and Central Africa, covering 75% of Africa’s tropical forests, including the Congo Basin, and 25% globally. Active for almost 10 years, ASCI is a platform for advocacy and action, addressing pressing, systemic and interconnected issues of climate change, resilient communities, livelihoods, deforestation, biodiversity and human rights. ASCI is the evolution of the African Palm Oil Initiative, recognizing that the same social and environmental issues are present in all commodities.
