Abul Kalam Azad

Special Envoy of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) Presidency, Bangladesh Government

Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad is responsible for Country Coordination of Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) in Bangladesh. He leads the SDG planning and implementation from Prime Minister’s Office of Bangladesh. Earlier to this, Mr. Azad coordinated all administrative, development and reform process from Prime Minister’s Office as Principal Secretary to the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh and as Secretary. For the last four years he has been supporting and guiding the implementation of 100 Economic Zones, dozens of hi-tech parks and several Public-Private Partnership initiatives, the supervision of coordination of NGO activities in Bangladesh. Apart from this presently as President of Bangladesh Scouts he works for character building of youths in country, Asia Pacific Region and Global level.

Mr. Azad worked for a long time in infrastructure development of Power and Energy in Bangladesh. His teamwork and sincere efforts enabled Bangladesh increasing its power generation capacity three times in a span of four years.

‘Digital Bangladesh’ ICT activities of Bangladesh enabled him to lead Bangladesh Civil Service in Administrative reform of reducing time, cost and visit (TCV) while providing service to the citizens. He initiated several administrative reforms including Annual Performance Appraisal (APA) system in Bangladesh Civil Service.
