Barcelona-based activist and politician. She is the former mayor of Barcelona (2015-2023). Co-founder of the Platform of People Affected by Mortgages (PAH), she was a prominent figure in the fight against evictions and for the right to housing. In 2015, she led Barcelona en Comú and won the mayoral election, becoming the first woman to hold the position. During her term, she promoted policies on housing, feminism, and the fight against the climate crisis. Since 2025, she has been the President of the Sentit Comú Foundation.
