Adnan Khan

Global Shaper, Peshawar Hub

Mr. Adnan Khan is a dedicated humanitarian and the Co-founder of Climasynth, where he bridges the gap between climate data and actionable strategy to empower organizations through the green transition. He has extensive experience in climate change adaptation, humanitarian innovation, disaster management, and youth engagement. As an Innovation Coordinator, he has a proven track record of empowering youth-led teams, guiding them to success in innovation competitions and helping them secure essential funding.

As the visionary and project lead for WhatNow, he spearheaded its development in collaboration with the IFRC, GDPC, and Google. Mr. Khan then successfully led its pilot in Pakistan, a landmark achievement that made it the first national society within the Red Cross Red Crescent movement to reach this milestone. Prior to this, he led a project at the Pakistan Red Crescent, where he focused on shifting vulnerable communities’ perceptions of climate change through impactful research, advocacy, and adaptation efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). His expertise also led to him advising Pakistan’s National Assembly's Standing Committee on Climate Change, where he contributed to significant climate-related advocacy and policy.

Mr. Khan has consistently championed youth leadership. He led the Youth and Volunteer Engagement Program for SDGs at the Pakistan Red Crescent and represented the Asia Pacific region on the Youth Advisory Group of the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, actively promoting youth-led climate action.

Currently, as the Co-founder of Climasynth, he turns complex environmental insights into sustainable growth. Simultaneously, as the Program Manager for Climate Change at PMS, he oversees three key initiatives: Child-Driven Climate Action (funded by Kindernothilfe Schweiz), which empowers children to become environmental leaders, CLEAN-C (supported by BMZ and Humedica), and Waste for Value (supported by Norwegian Church Aid) which promotes sustainable waste management to reduce carbon emissions and environmental degradation while fostering community resilience.

He is passionate about promoting volunteerism, social innovation, circular economy, and sustainability, while also raising awareness about the significance of climate change adaptation among youth. His ultimate goal is to contribute to a more disaster- and climate-resilient future for the world, especially in South Asia.

His recent publications include:

Increasing April-May rainfall, El Niño and high vulnerability behind deadly flooding in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran
