Why the metaverse is challenging our notions of privacy

Adrian Kuenzler
Adrian Kuenzler is a Professor in the Faculty of Law, Zürich University, and an Affiliate Fellow at the Information Society Project, Yale Law School. His scholarship examines problems in competition, intellectual property and consumer law from an economic and comparative perspective and draws on insights from the behavioral sciences to document the law’s role in stimulating innovation and economic growth. He holds a Master's and a Ph.D. degree from Zürich University as well as LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees from Yale Law School.
Adrian has held visiting academic positions at Yale Law School, the Max Planck Institute for Collective Goods, the European University Institute, New York University School of Law, ETH Zürich, the University of San Andrés, and the University of Münster. He holds the position of Robert S. Campbell Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford in 2023.
Prior to joining academia, he worked as a law clerk for an international business law firm in Zürich and Chicago, for a District Court Judge in Zürich, and as a legal advisor for a start-up company that connects universities worldwide.
Adrian's work investigates how the legal system accounts for the current technological transformation from an economy based on physical scarcity to one grounded in intangible rarity, how the use of data-driven technologies affects citizens in their ability to make decisions that steer commerce towards what they actually prefer, and how the law can ensure that new technologies are going to enable and empower us, rather than quietly compel us to adjust to them.
