Akihiro Yasui

Founder, Circular Initiatives & Partners

Born on December 12, 1988 in Tokyo, Japan. Founder at Circular Initiatives&Partners. Graduated from Master Program "Sustainability, Society and the Environment" at Kiel University.

I am a circular-economy researcher, sustainable journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Tokyo and Amsterdam. I am passionate about sharing environmental, socially beneficial ideas through my consultant work, lecture series and films. I believe that we can make our world better if we can further proceed installing the mechanism of circular economy into our society.

The themes I have been addressing are circular economy, zero waste, food rescue, refugee issues, fair trade, organic agriculture and sustainable lifestyles. I had worked with a sustainable web magazine in Germany “yooweedoo” for several years as a film director. I have interviewed and got involved in various startups and individuals, including a Dutch rescued-food restaurant “Instock”, a circular-economy jeans company “MUD Jeans”, Berlin’s first food-outlet store “SirPlus”, the German refugee supporting project “The Hutto Project” and Slow Food Japan & Germany. Today, I am passionate about introducing a variety of unique, circular, sustainable activities from Japan to the rest of the world.
