Alan AtKisson

Assistant Director-General, Partnerships and Innovation, Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)

Alan AtKisson serves as Director of the Department of Partnership and Innovation at Sida – the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. He also serves as Assistant Director-General of Sida. He leads a department of over 100 highly skilled and experienced professionals, who work to advance the vision of sustainable development for all. The department includes Sida's work to support civil society, research cooperation, capacity development and training programs, financial instruments such as guarantees, and engagement programs with business, investors, other Swedish government agencies, as well as other key international partners. The department also coordinates Sida's work with development-related innovation.

Prior to joining Sida, Alan worked principally as a senior advisor and consultant in the field of sustainability, sustainable development, and transformative change. He has over 30 years of international leadership, advisory, research and communications experience; and he has consulted to governments, leading companies, global NGOs, and the United Nations. Over the years he has founded, directed and/or chaired a number of other organizations and initiatives, and he developed tools and methods now used around the world in the field of sustainability.

In recognition for his many contributions as a leader, innovator, and communicator, AtKisson was voted into the international Sustainability Hall of Fame in 2013. He was also elected a Full Member of the Club of Rome in 2015.
