Alejandro Maza is founder and CEO of OPI Analytics, a Mexico based Machine Learning startup that provides state of the art AI algorithms to organizations in the public and private sectors.
Through OPI, Alejandro works with some of the region’s largest companies in banking, consumer goods, and retail, to innovate in the way they deliver their products and services through the integration of new technologies and data. Some of the uses of OPI’s technologies include the ethical use of alternative data and predictive algorithms to provide credit to the underbanked and demand prediction delivery systems that optimize routes and inventories.
In the public sector, OPI has been instrumental in the implementation of Open Data policy and technology in Mexico at a national and local levels, and OPI’s algorithms are currently used to detect corruption risk in public contracting and for evidence based housing policy planning.
Alejandro has a background in Mathematics and Economics and is passionate about technology. He is an Ashoka Fellow, an Endeavor Entrepreneur and a WEF Global Shaper. Besides his work at OPI, Alejandro mentors several startups and NGOs in Mexico and actively participates in boards and public discussions regarding transparency, privacy and regulation of new technologies.
