Allan Waititu

Director, Special Projects, Equity Bank

Allan currently serves as the Director for Operations at Equity Bank Kenya Limited. Most recently, he was the pioneer Director for Special Projects and spearheaded social payments projects in East Africa, enabling financial and economic inclusion in marginalized areas. Among the successful initiatives that Allan has led includes cash payments using technology and channel innovations to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in arid Northern Kenya (Hunger Safety Net Program). This Cash Transfers innovative model was extended to Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Older Persons, Persons with Severe Disabilities, Inua Jamii Programs, and to Refugees in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and South Sudan.

Allan also worked as the General Manager in charge of Operations and championed for the centralization of back office systems and business process automation. He was promoted to Director of Projects and Innovations during which he led the implementation of payment systems, mobile banking and agency banking systems as well as rolling out of business and IT systems to the region.

He was the founding chair of the East Africa Humanitarian Private Sector Partnership Platform EA-HPPP (2016-2017). Besides his AMP (Advanced Management Program) – IESE Business School Barcelona & Strathmore Business School, Allan is a business technology graduate and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Strathmore University.
