1979, training as a banker; 1983, degrees in Business Engineering and 1987, in Business Administration. 1988, began career at Daimler-Benz in various posts; then took charge of the M Class unit, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz US. 1999, returned to Germany as Senior Vice-President, Executive Management Development, DaimlerChrysler and President, smart. 2004, with Mitsubishi Motors, Japan; then Member, Daimler Board of Management, responsible for the Daimler Trucks Division; 2013, Member of the Daimler Board of Management, in charge of Manufacturing and Procurement, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Vans; since February 2015, Member of the Board of Management, Volkswagen, responsible for Truck & Bus, and Chief Executive Officer, TRATON, a subsidiary of Volkswagen and a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer worldwide with brands MAN, Scania, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, and RIO. In 2018, TRATON GROUP’s brands sold around 233,000 vehicles in total. Its offering comprises light-duty commercial vehicles, trucks and buses, which are produced at 29 sites in 17 countries. The company had a workforce of around 85,000 employees worldwide across its commercial vehicle brands as of 31 December 2018. The group seeks to transform the transportation system through its products, its services, and as a partner for its customers.
