Anibal Gaviria Correa

Governor of Antioquia, Government of the State of Antioquia, Colombia

Aníbal Gaviria was born in Medellin in 1966. After his brother was kidnapped and murdered by FARC Guerilla he was elected Governor of Antioquia (2004-2007). At the end of his term he was recognized as the best Governor in the country.
In 2010 he ran for the Vice Presidency of the Republic by the Liberal Party and in 2011, he was elected Mayor of Medellin for the period 2012-2015. And became the Governor of the State of Antioquia in 2020.
Gaviria holds a B.A in Business from EAFIT University and has recently pursued graduate studies at John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
