Anna is a flight test engineer, a part-time Master's student at the National Test Pilot School, a Global Shapers member, and a lifelong learner and multinational individual driven by endless curiosity.
Anna grew up in several countries and in a multinational environment which allowed her to become fluent in three languages - Russian, German, and English. After relocating to the United States, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at Western Michigan University (WMU) while also gaining professional engineering experience through a continuous part-time internship in Germany and the U.S.
The curiosity for other cultures and the importance of helping those in need drove Anna to be largely involved in the community. While at WMU, Anna was an international orientation leader and a refugee tutor and resettlement assistant along with participating in other short-term volunteering projects. As Anna transitioned into the professional world, she continues to advocate for refugees, children's rights, and access to education. She is a member of UNICEF NextGen - a community of young professionals advocating for children's rights through a variety of projects. Additionally, Anna is part of the Global Shapers (Atlanta hub) - a selective worldwide young professionals organization by the World Economic Forum. Global Shapers focus on regional projects targeting several critical topics such as the environment, education and employment, crisis response, and others. She is an active member and the impact officer overseeing all project initiatives within the Atlanta hub.
By profession, Anna is a flight test engineer focusing on aerodynamics/performance. As part of a team, she plans and executes testing while flying on the aircraft, and analyses the gathered data to ensure satisfactory characteristics and safety. Approximately a quarter of her responsibilities on the job is flying on the airplane as part of the test team. She supplements her day-to-day job with a continuing Master's education in her field. Additionally, she is an active member of a local Society of Women Engineers (SWE) chapter focusing on outreach and a board member of a local Society of Flight Test Engineers (SFTE) chapter.
Moreover, Anna enjoys traveling, hiking and running, photography, and learning new skills among other things.
