Sir António Horta-Osório

Sir António Horta-Osório is the Chairman of Credit Suisse Group AG since 2021 and chairs the Governance and Nominations Committee. He is also the Chairman of the Credit Suisse Foundation.

Previously, he was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Lloyds Banking Group, to which he was appointed in 2011. From 1993 – 2010 he held various management functions as Chief Executive Officer Portugal, Brazil and the UK at Grupo Santander, where he was Executive Vice President and member of the management committee, developing and expanding the business successfully in various core markets.

Sir António Horta-Osório currently serves as a non-executive director at Fundação Champalimaud in Lisbon, at PartnerRe, an Exor Subsidiary, and at Stichting/Enable INPAR in the Netherlands. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Wallace Collection in London and he chairs the pharmaceutical company BIAL in Porto, Portugal. Furthermore, he served on the Court of Directors of the Bank of England from 2009 to 2011, in a personal capacity.

Sir António Horta-Osório holds a degree in management and business administration from the Catholic University of Lisbon, as well as an MBA from INSEAD, and completed an Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School. He was awarded Honorary Doctorates by the University of Edinburgh, the University of Bath, the University of Warwick, and the University of Birmingham.
