Currently, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication of Pakistan; has initiated policy measures, projects and programmes that have transformed Pakistani ICT markets and landscape; has overseen three rounds of auctions of spectrum for next generation mobile services (3G/4G). As a result, broadband penetration has reached more than 35% from less than 3% in early 2014. Aims to connect every village with more than 100 people and to achieve more than 50% broadband penetration by 2020. Chairperson, Universal Service and National ICT Research & Development Funds. Pioneering the e-Governance initiative in Pakistan with an objective of increasing overall public administration efficiency, enhancing transparency, improving citizens’ access to services and enhancing their participation in democratic governance processes. During tenure, software exports from Pakistan have increased by 98% and Pakistan ranks No. 3 in freelancing. Focuses on HR development in ICT sector. Initiated Digitalskills programme training 1 million youth online, ICT for Girls programme teaching girls coding and clouding computing, and e-commerce portal project to bring Pakistani artisans online.
