2001, PhD, University of Sydney. Currently, research scientist, University of Western Sydney (UWS). Leads the UWS Confocal Bio-Imaging Facility, using laser confocal microscopes to investigate cellular processes in reef corals, exploring such questions as the function of fluorescent proteins in sun screening and providing resilience to climate change. Develops novel coral fluorescent proteins cloned from corals as cellular markers for imaging applications in cell biology and biomedicine. Began investigating whether coral fluorescent light channelling mechanisms can be used to inspire new biophotonic advances and to increase the solar-gathering efficiencies of solar cells.
