Astrid Stuth Cevallos

Project Associate, RAND

Astrid Cevallos is a Project Associate at the RAND Corporation. She completed her MPhil in International Relations at the University of Oxford and earned her AB in East Asian Studies from Princeton University. Cevallos studied Mandarin Chinese at the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Her research interests include U.S.-China relations and foreign policy analysis. In her MPhil thesis, she evaluated the Fulbright Foreign Student Program as a socializing mechanism through which young foreign intellectual elites learn the values of the American Creed—individualism, democracy, equality, and capitalism. In her undergraduate thesis, she analyzed present-day Chinese academic discourse on China's national identity and role in international politics, focusing especially on a group of scholars who advocate a return to Confucian principles in Chinese domestic politics and foreign policy. Cevallos previously worked at the Princeton University Writing Center and the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy.
