Austin Strange

Assistant Professor, University of Hong Kong

Austin Strange is an assistant professor of international relations in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong beginning August 2020. He is also a fellow in the Columbia-Harvard China and the World Program. Austin researches and teaches Chinese foreign policy, international political economy, and international development. Currently he is preparing a book manuscript on the domestic politics of trade and diplomacy in Chinese history. With excellent colleagues, he also tracks contemporary China's economic activities abroad. Among other projects, he is writing a book for Cambridge University Press on China’s overseas development program. He received a Ph.D. in Government from Harvard University and previously studied at Zhejiang University (M.A.) and the College of William & Mary (B.A.).
