Starting his career in 2005, Azeem initially worked as a volunteer, helping to create active citizens across third world nations. As his interest in visual arts and design grew, he chose to complete his BDes. Visual Communication Design with a distinction.
Through his four years at college, he also continued to volunteer and work on different projects on a national and international level and received the Address of Honour By Ajoy Dey – M.L.A & Chairman, Santipur Municipality as well as Kabi Krittibas Ojha Smriti Smarak Award by Rangapeeth Natymela (West Bengal, India) in December 2014. He also conducted international workshops in Turkey, India, Dubai, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and most recently in Sri Lanka at the Goethe Institut and University of Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo.
His current endeavors include a curatorial design workshop; ‘To Get Here: at the Centre Pompidou’ in Paris. This was a real opportunity for in situ trans-disciplinary work in the context of an international learning exchange. The workshop offered young designers the possibility of working in teams on subjects linked to the living museum as embodied by the Centre Pompidou - where individuals were invited to approach the works, the collections, the site, and the missions of the museum with a designer’s eye.
Furthermore, his collaboration with the Social Innovation Academy (SINA) in East Africa is on-going since December 2018 which focuses on a trans-disciplinary co-design exchange learning and communication program. The objective of the program is to explore and research on the possibilities of open design and participatory design in a communal work setting using design thinking as a problem-solving tool.
Currently while pursuing his higher education, he improved not only his designing skills, but also learned to work hard, focus, concentrate, and balance my time and priorities in order to achieve my goals. Hamid sees a design project as an opportunity to solve problems through social, technological, economic and cultural perspectives. Also, achieve organizational sustainability, enhancing cultural vitality and building relationships with their audiences in a positive and original way.
He has also previously worked with a number of national school and college networks in Pakistan and South Asia to develop and aid their creative arts programmes and annual performances and have been the Curriculum Design Consultant at Rabtt – a non profit organization working with under privileged youth and The City School Network - Alpha School - one of the leading private educational network in Pakistan.
He’s also the founder of ASSITEJ International - Pakistan National Center and alumni/facilitator at ChangemakerXchange network co-created by Ashoka and Robert Bosch Stiftung.
